Numbers in ( ) at the end of each round/row indicate the total number of stitches.

Always do the 1st stitch where you slip stitch from the previous round.
The chain, in the beginning, does NOT count as one stitch unless stated otherwise.
You slip stitch on the first sc, not on top of the chain 1.

ASSEMBLE
I recommend pinning the pieces in place before sewing them to make sure you have them in the position you like best before sewing. (Most people like to use the yarn at the end of the finished pieces to sew them in place, but I personally like to use matching thread).
TIP...For anything that I’m going to be using felt, I like to first sketch it out on a white paper and make a stencil of what I need. Then cut it out. Then tape the stencil to the felt and cut it out.
BEAK...if you haven't already stuff it lightly. Place it on round 9 and 10.
The FEATHER on top of the head...there's no need to stuff. Align it with the beak so its perfectly center to the head/body and place it on round 2. Only sew one round of the feather to the body, leaving the rest unsew.
WINGS...place the wings on each side between round 6 and 13 (hdc section being outward); approx. 1.25" distance from the beak. You will only be sewing the side that's closest to the peak (like shown in the picture below). Leaving the rest of the wing unsew like this he would be able to flap his wings.
Using black and red felt make the stripes for the wing as shown below.
TAIL...find the center of the back of the body and place it on round 17. Only sew the bottom portion of the tail.
FEET...place it on round 17; approx. 1" apart. Only sew the ch3 we did at the end of the feet to the body leaving the rest unsew.
EYES...using black felt make 2 circles. Place the black circles on round 8 and 9.
