Round Plush Badtz Maru

     For those who love cute things, Badtz Maru is the perfect size to hold on your palm or attach to your bag as a keychain and be your traveling companion. You can also make a small blanket and attach him to make a lovey for your little one.

SIZE/MEASUREMENTS
approx. 3.5"height x 3.25"length

MATERIALS
*Crochet hook size: 3.5mm (E)
*Worsted Weight Yarn: Black (39yds) & Yellow (7yds)
*Stitch Markers to mark your rounds
*Felt: White, Black & Yellow
*Fiberfill
*Tapestry Needle
*Matching Thread
*Hot Glue

PATTERN NOTES - must-read...
 Numbers in ( ) at the end of each round/row indicate the total number of stitches.
 Always use stitch markers to mark your rounds.
 There's no need to sl st and/or ch when going to the next round unless stated to do so.
 Always do the 1st stitch where you slip stitch from the previous round.
 The chain, in the beginning, does NOT count as one stitch unless stated otherwise.
 You slip stitch on the first sc, not on top of the chain 1.

HEAD/BODY with black
  Rnd 1: 6sc in magic ring (6)
  Rnd 2: 2sc in each st around (12)
  Rnd 3: sc in next st, 2sc in next st around (18)
  Rnd 4: sc in next 2 sts, 2sc in next st around (24)
  Rnd 5: sc in next 3 sts, 2sc in next st around (30)
  Rnd 6: sc in next 4 sts, 2sc in next st around (36)
  Rnd 7: sc in next 11 sts, 2sc in next st around (39)
  Rnd 8-13: sc in each st around (39)
  Rnd 14: sc in next 11 sts, sc2tog around (36)
  Rnd 15: sc in next 4 sts, sc2tog around (30)
  Rnd 16: sc in next 3 sts, sc2tog around (24)
Start stuffing the head/body moderately firm.
  Rnd 17: sc in next 2 sts, sc2tog around (18)
  Rnd 18: sc in next st, sc2tog around (12)
  Rnd 19: sc2tog around (6)
F/O and leave a tail for closing. Add any bits of stuffing need it to finish shaping the head/body. Weave in the tail through the final round and draw up tight to close. Secure and weave in the ends.

SPIKES with black; make 4

  Rnd 1: 4sc in magic ring (4)

  Rnd 2: sc in next st, 2sc in next st around (6)

  Rnd 3: sc in next 2 sts, 2sc in next st around (8)

  Rnd 4: sc in each st around, join to the 1st st with the invisible join (8)

F/O, secure and weave in the ends. 

ARMS with black; make 2

  Rnd 1: 5sc in magic ring (5)

  Rnd 2-3: sc in each st around (5)

  Rnd 4: sc2tog, sc in next 3 sts (4)

F/O, secure and weave in the ends.

TAIL with black

  Rnd 1: 3sc in magic ring (3)

  Rnd 2: 2sc in each st around, join to the 1st st with the invisible join

F/O, secure and weave in the ends. 

FEET with yellow; make 2

  Rnd 1: 6sc in magic ring (6)

  Rnd 2: 3sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts around (10)

  Rnd 3-4: sc in each st around (10)

  Row 1: stuffed lightly, flatten to match up the stitches and sc across, ch1, turn (5)

  Row 2: sc2tog, sc in next st, sc2tog (3)
F/O, secure and weave in the ends. 


ASSEMBLE
     I recommend pinning the pieces in place before sewing them to make sure you have them in the position you like best before sewing. (Most people like to use the yarn at the end of the finished pieces to sew them in place, but I personally like to use matching thread).
     TIP...For anything that I’m going to be using felt, I like to first sketch it out on a white paper and make a stencil of what I need. Then cut it out. Then tape the stencil to the felt and cut it out.
     FEET...try to find the position you like best. I place mine between round 17 and 18; approx. 0.50" apart. Only sew the 2 last rows from the feet (the flat area) to the body.

     ARMS...there is no need to stuff them. Align them with the feet and place them on round 11 and 12.

     SPIKES...there is no need to stuff them. Place them across the top in the position you like best.

     TAIL...find the center of the back; place it between round 15 and 16.

     TUMMY SPOT...using white felt, make half of an oval and place it between round 14 and 16. (This does not have to be perfect.)

     EYES...using white felt, make 2 half ovals and place them between round 8 and 10; approx. 0.50" apart.

     PUPILS to EYES...using black felt, make 2 tiny circles, and glued them in the position you like best.

     BEAK...using a yellow felt, make a rounded triangle and place it between round 11 and 12. With black embroidery floss or thread, embroider a line in the center of the beak.

  Row 2: *ch2, sl st into 2nd ch from hook, sl st in next st* repeat from * to * 2 more times

F/O, secure and weave in the ends.

EYES with white; make 2

  Rnd 1: 5sc in magic ring (5)

  Rnd 2: 2sc in each st around (10)

  Rnd 3: working in the back loops only sc in each st around (10)

There is no need to stuff the eyes.

F/O, weave in the tail through the final round and draw up tight to close. Leaving the tail for sewing.

BOW with black

  Row 1: ch6, dc in 3rd ch from hook, dc in next 3 chs, ch2, sl st in last st

F/O, secure and weave in the ends. With a strand of yarn about 5" long wrap several times through the middle of the bow and secure with a knot. Weave in ends.


ASSEMBLE
     I recommend pinning the pieces in place before sewing them to make sure you have them in the position you like best before sewing. (Most people like to use the yarn at the end of the finished pieces to sew them in place, but I personally like to use matching thread).

     FEET...try to find the position you like best. I place mine between round 18 and 19; approx. 0.25" apart. Only sew the 2 last rounds from the feet (leaving the flat area unsew).

     ARMS...place them on round 13 and 14.

     EYES...find the center of the head/body and place them on round 7. Sew them in place but keep inmind that you will be leaving most of the eyes unsew.

     PUPILS to EYES...using black felt, make 2 tiny circles, and glued them in the position you like best.     

     BOW...place it between round 13 and 14. Only sew the center of the bow to the head/body.

     MOUTH...using black embroidery floss or thread, embroider the smile.

     BLUSH...add a little blush underneath the eyes using makeup blush and a q-tip. Or you can use pink felt.

Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwich Applique "You're the peanut butter to my jelly"

Ideas on how to use these appliques...
*These would be great to apply to any project.
*You can add them to kitchen towels,
*turn them into a keychain or fridge magnet.
*You can also make several and make a garland.
*Attach a ribbon to make them into bookmarks.
*Add them to the front of a homemade card.

SIZE/MEASUREMENTS
approx. 2"height x 1.75"length
...but can vary based on yarn and hook size

MATERIALS
*Crochet hook size: 2.75mm (C) & 3.25mm (D)
*Worsted weight yarn: Beige White (10yds), Light Brown (3yds)
*Felt: Light Brown, Purple & Black
*Tapestry Needle
*Matching Thread
*Hot Glue (optional)

BREAD SLICES starting with white; 3.25mm
     Follow the pattern for my 'Toasted Bread Slice Applique' and make 2 bread slices. Once you have made them follow the assemble process below to turn them into the peanut butter and jelly sandwich.


ASSEMBLE
     I recommend pinning the pieces in place before sewing them to make sure you have them in the position you like best before sewing. (Most people like to use the yarn at the end of the finished pieces to sew them in place, but I personally like to use matching thread).
     TIP...For anything that I’m going to be using felt, I like to first sketch it out on a white paper and make a stencil of what I need. Then cut it out. Then tape the stencil to the felt and cut it out.
     PEANUT BUTTER and JELLY SPREAD...using a light brown and purple (color of choice for your jelly) felt, make your spread in any shape and form. Don't glue it in place just yet.
     EYES...using black felt make 4 tiny circles and place them in the position you like best.
     MOUTH...using black embroidery floss or thread, embroider the mouth. Make it however you like, the possibilities are endless.
     CHEEKS...you can use pink felt and make tiny circles or you can use makeup blush and apply some on each side of the eyes using a q-tip.

*2 Black Round Doomed buttons or Safety Eyes (10mm)
*Tapestry Needle

*Makeup Blush & Q-tip (optional)

F/O, secure and weave in the ends.

NOTE: all stitches will be done in the magic ring.

BEAK with mango

  Rnd 1: ch2, 2dc cluster, ch2, sl st, ch2, 2dc cluster, ch2, sl st, pull tightly to close magic ring

F/O, leave a tail for sewing.

FEATHERS on top of the head with yellow

  Row 1: ch5, sl st in 1st ch from hook, ch4, sl st into 1st ch, ch3, sl st into 1st ch, at the bottom of the sts sl st across

F/O, leave a tail for sewing.

TAIL FEATHERS with warm gray

Central Feathers make 1 

  Row 1: ch7, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 2 chs, sl st in next 3 chs (6) 

F/O, leave a tail for sewing.

Long Feathers make 2

  Row 1: ch6, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, sl st in next 3 chs (5)

F/O, leave a tail for sewing.

     WINGS...place them on round 13 (where we did the color change). Only sew the top portion leaving the rest of the wing unsew so he can flap around.

     BEAK...place it in on round 11, in the center between both wings. Only sew the center portion.

     FEATHERS on the top of the HEAD...place it vertically on round 1, aligning it with the beak.

     FEET...place it on round 18; approx. 0.75" apart. Only sew the ch3 we did at the end of the feet to the body leaving the rest unsew.

     TAIL FEATHERS...find the middle of the back and place the long feather in round 16. The short feathers on either side of the long feather.

     EYES...I am using the rounded domed buttons since I have no crafts stores around my area that sell safety eyes. I will be placing them between round 9 and 10; approx. 1" apart.

     OPTIONAL…you can add a little blush underneath the eyes using makeup blush and a q-tip. Or embroider them using pink embroidery floss or thread.
