Kuromi Beanie (knit)

    Simple but yet very stylish; for boys and girls of all ages. You can comfortably wear it during any season, depending on the yarn you used and the weather, of course. This is an easy-to-knit beanie if you know the basics: knit, purl, and k2tog.

SIZE/MEASUREMENTS
Child (6yrs - 10yrs) [19" to 20" head circumference]
Teen/Small Adult [20" to 21" head circumference]

Adult (men) [21" to 23" head circumference]

MATERIALS
*Worsted Weight Yarn: Main Color & a small amount of darker/light pink for the skull
*DPN's or Circular Needles: 4.5mm & 5.0mm
*Stitch Marker to mark your rounds
*Tapestry Needle

GAUGE
Using 5.0mm needles...  4.5 stitches x  6 rows = 1"
Don't forget to check your gauge.

PATTERN NOTES
  This pattern can either be knitted when making the hat or duplicate stitched on afterward; the choice is yours. Here's a great video on how to duplicate stitch: HERE.

STARTING the BEANIE

CO 80 (90, 90) sts on 4.5mm needles with main color yarn.

Place a marker and join in the round, being careful not to twist the stitches.

Do ribbing (k1, p1) for 1 inch (approx. 6 rounds).

Change to larger needles and proceed knitting for 4 (4.5, 5) inches. This will give you approx. 27 (32, 37) rounds. Please follow the graph to determine which rows to apply the color changes.

SHAPING the CROWN

  Rnd 1: k8, k2tog around

  Rnd 2 and all even rounds: knit around

  Rnd 3: k7, k2tog around

  Rnd 5: k6, k2tog around

  Rnd 7: k5, k2tog around

  Rnd 9: k4, k2tog around

  Rnd 11: k3, k2tog around

  Rnd 13: k2, k2tog around

  Rnd 15: k1, k2tog around

  Rnd 17: k2tog around

Leave a tail (up to 8"). You will use a tapestry needle to thread the tail through the last remaining stitches on your needle. After removing the needles from the stitches, pull tightly to close the top hole. Lastly, hide the tail inside and weave it in.

NOTE: The ears are worked all in one piece and then folded in half.

EARS starting with lilac or black; make 2

CO 2 stitches with the 5.0mm needles

Cast off on row 37. Weave in the ends. Fold the ear in half along row 19. Using the 3.75mm (F) crochet hook, single crochet along the entire ear to close it off. F/O, weave in all ends. Another method you can use if you're not comfortable crocheting, use a tapestry needle and whip stitch along the entire ear to close it off.

ASSEMBLE
     I recommend pinning the pieces before sewing them to make sure you have them in the position you like best before sewing.

     EARS...lay out the beanie flat and find the position you like best.

SKULL with darker/lighter shade of pink; 3.75mm (F)

Cut 18 pieces of yarn (9 for each earflap) about 36 inches long. Fold each bunch in half and push the folded end through an opening in the bottom of each earflap. Pull the unfolded ends through the loop and pull tight. Braid the strands and tie a knot to secure the braid. Complete the second braid the same way.

ASSEMBLE
     I recommend pinning the pieces before sewing them to make sure you have them in the position you like best before sewing.

     EARS...lay out the beanie flat and find the position you like best. Place them between rounds 4 and 7 for the toddler size.

For the child/adult size, place them between rounds 5 and 8.

     SKULL...find the center of the beanie and place it above the single crochet rounds (edging).

NOTE: as you are crocheting the tail insert a pipe cleaner, this will make the tail bendable.

  Rnd 11: 2sc in each around (8)

  Row 1: flatten and match up the stitches sc in each st across, ch1, turn (4)

  Row 2: sc2tog, sc2tog, ch1, turn (2)

  Row 3: sl st in next st (1)

F/O, secure and weave in the ends.

ASSEMBLE
     I recommend pinning the pieces in place before sewing them to make sure you have them in the position you like best before sewing. (Most people like to use the yarn at the end of the finished pieces to sew them in place, but I personally like to use matching thread).
     TIP...For anything that I’m going to be using felt, I like to first sketch it out on a white paper and make a stencil of what I need. Then cut it out. Then tape the stencil to the felt and cut it out.

     FEET...if you have not already stuff them lightly. Place them between round 18 and 19; approx 1.25" apart.

     ARMS...no need to stuff them. Align them to the feet and place them on round 13 and 14.

     COLLAR...place it between round 12 and 13, where the 2 colors meet.

     EARS...there is no need to stuff them, simply flatten them out. Place them in round 4 and 5.

     TAIL...find the center of the back of the body and place it between round 17 and 18.

     FACE...using white felt, make a rounded heart-shaped and place it between rounds 7 and 11.

     EYES...using black felt, make 2 small rounded rectangles with a slant on one end and place them in the position you like best.

     NOSE...using pink felt, make a rounded rectangle, and place it in the position you like best.

     SKULL...using pink felt, make a tiny skull, and glued it between the center of the face.

     EYELASHES...using black thread or embroidery floss, embroider the lashes at the tip of the eyes.

     PINK DOTS at the COLLAR....using pink thread/embroidery floss yarn, make tiny knots at the tip of each triangle from the collar.

ASSEMBLE
     I recommend pinning the pieces in place before sewing them to make sure you have them in the position you like best before sewing. (Most people like to use the yarn at the end of the finished pieces to sew them in place, but I personally like to use matching thread).
     TIP...For anything that I’m going to be using felt, I like to first sketch it out on a white paper and make a stencil of what I need. Then cut it out. Then tape the stencil to the felt and cut it out.

     FEET...if you have not already stuff them lightly. Place them between round 18 and 19; approx 1.25" apart.

     ARMS...no need to stuff them. Align them to the feet and place them on round 13 and 14.

     EARS...there is no need to stuff them, simply flatten them out. Place them in round 2 and 4. The right ear bend it a bit down, sew it in place.

     COLLAR...place it between round 12 and 13, where the 2 colors meet. You will be leaving 5 stitches in the front.

     FLOWER...place it on the left ear and sew it in place.

     TAIL...find the center of the back of the body and place it between round 16 and 17.

     FACE...using white felt, make a rounded rectangle, and place it between rounds 7 and 11.

     EYES...using black felt, make 2 small rounded rectangles and place them in the position you like best.

     NOSE...using yellow felt, make a rounded rectangle, and place it in the position you like best.

     BLUSH...add a little blush underneath the eyes using makeup blush and a q-tip. Or you can use pink felt.

Round Plush Bunny

     For those who love cute things, this bunny is the perfect size to hold on your palm or attach to your bag as a keychain and be your traveling companion. You can also make a small blanket and attach it to make a lovey for your little one.

SIZE/MEASUREMENTS
approx. 4.25"height x 3"length

MATERIALS
*Crochet hook size: 3.5mm (E)
*Worsted Weight Yarn: White (55yds), Light Pink (2yds), & Light Lavender (2yds)
*Stitch Markers to mark your rounds
*Safety Eyes (10mm)
*Fiberfill
*Tapestry Needle
*Matching Thread
*Pom-pom Maker (size 1-3/8")
*Makeup Blush & Q-tip (optional)

PATTERN NOTES - must read...
 Numbers in ( ) at the end of each round/row indicate the total number of stitches.
 Always use stitch markers to mark your rounds.
 There's no need to sl st and/or ch when going to the next round unless stated to do so.
 Always do the 1st stitch where you slip stitch from the previous round.
 The chain, in the beginning, does NOT count as one stitch unless stated otherwise.
 You slip stitch on the first sc, not on top of the chain 1.

HEAD/BODY with white
  Rnd 1: 6sc in magic ring (6)
  Rnd 2: 2sc in each st around (12)
  Rnd 3: sc in next st, 2sc in next st around (18)
  Rnd 4: sc in next 2 sts, 2sc in next st around (24)
  Rnd 5: sc in next 3 sts, 2sc in next st around (30)
  Rnd 6: sc in next 4 sts, 2sc in next st around (36)
  Rnd 7: sc in next 11 sts, 2sc in next st around (39)
  Rnd 8-13: sc in each st around (39)

If you’re using safety eyes, set your hook aside and place the safety eyes between round 8 and 9; having 5 stitches in between them (1.125” apart). Don’t add the washers just yet. Stuff the head moderately firm while shaping and see if you’re happy with the placement of the eyes. If you are, remove the stuffing and add the washers to the safety eyes and re-stuff the head. 
If you are not using safety eyes; start stuffing the head moderately firm and keep adding fiberfill as you go along.
  Rnd 17: sc in next 2 sts, sc2tog around (18)
  Rnd 18: sc in next st, sc2tog around (12)
  Rnd 19: sc2tog around (6)
F/O and leave a tail for closing. Add any bits of stuffing need it to finish shaping the head/body. Weave in the tail through the final round and draw up tight to close. Secure and weave in the ends.

  Row 1: stuffed lightly, flatten to match up the stitches and sc across, ch1, turn (5)

ASSEMBLE

     FEET...try to find the position you like best. I place mine between round 17 and 18; approx. 0.50" apart. Only sew the 2 last rows from the feet (the flat area) to the body.

     ARMS...no need to stuff them. Align them to the feet and place them on round 11 and 12.

     EARS...there's no need to stuff them, simply flatten them out. Place them on round 4 and 5. Using a q-tip and makeup blush, applied some on the center of the ear like in the picture below. If you don't have any blush, you can also use light pink embroidery floss, thread or yarn.

     FLOWER...sew it in place on either side of the ear.

     TAIL...using a pom-pom maker (size: 1-3/8”) or if you don't have one theirs several ways on how to make them, for example, using cardboard. Be sure to trim it the most that you’re able to so it can be as tiny as possible. Using the ends from the pom-pom, sew it in place on the center back between round 15 and 16.

     NOSE...using light pink embroidery floss, thread or yarn; embroider the nose however you like the possibilities are endless.
