Hello Kitty iPhone Cozy

By JC Designs
Best wishes to all my blog readers. Hope this year brings you all happiness, health, love and lots of great opportunities. To start of 2012, here's a new free pattern for all you to enjoy. ♥
I was tired of my old, simple case that came with my camera. I been wanting something cutesy to put it in. I had been searching to either buy one or to make it but I hadn't been able to find anything I like so I made my own. :)

SIZE/MEASUREMENTS
To fit a iPhone 3gs but this same pattern could also be adjusted to fit a iPod, iPad, iTouch, Kindle, camera, any other cell phone out there. You could change the color of the cozy to white, eyes black and nose yellow to make it look like the classic Hello Kitty.

MATERIALS
*Crochet hook size 3.0mm & 4.0mm
*Worsted weight yarn: Black (approx. 40yds) & Fuchsia (approx. 10yds)
*Felt: White
*Thread: White
*Stitch Marker to mark your rounds
*Tapestry Needle

PATTERN NOTES
Their's no need to slip stitch and/or chain when going to the next round unless stated to do so.
Numbers in ( ) at the end of each round or row indicate the total number of stitches for that round or row.

CASE with 4.0mm hook
Rnd 1: ch 10, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 7chs, 3sc in next ch, sc in next 7chs, 2sc in next sc (20)
Rnd 2: sc in next 9sc, 2sc in next sc, sc in next 9sc, 2sc in next sc (22)
Rnd 3-24: sc in each sc around (22)
Rnd 25: sl in next sc, ch1, *2dc in next sc, ch1, sl st in next sc, ch 1, skip the next sc* up to the last 3sc,  skip them and sl st into the first sl st.
F/O and weave in ends.

BOW with 3.0mm hook
Rnd 1: ch 9, sc in 2nd ch from hook and across, ch 1, turn (8)
Rnd 2-4: sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn (8)
F/O and weave in ends. Now fold as you would a paper fan and with a strand of yarn about 12" long wrap several times through the middle of the bow and secure with a knot. Weave in the ends.

ASSEMBLY
I recommend pinning the bow in place before sewing it to make sure you have it in the position you like best before sewing.
Since I'm terrible at embroidery, I cut small ovals from white felt for the eyes and nose. You can either glue them in place or sew them. With white thread...I folded it to have 4 strands and embroidery the whiskers.

Here's a video I found that shows you how to make an oval shape; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_B9BinO3ULg. That's how your suppose to start round one but using the instructions I posted here.

  7. Hi! I was wondering if you might be able to tell me how to adjust this for an iPad? My friend got one (early) for her birthday, and I was thinking of making a cozy for her. Since she loves Hello Kitty, and this is just about *perfect* for her... but I don't have an iPad, so I'm not sure about the sizing and the adjusting... >_<

  9. @Anna, you will need to know the size of the ipad in order to be able to make it. I found the dimensions here... http://www.apple.com/ipad/specs/
Chain and measure as you go.
